There’s even more to explore in the 6pi sim (featured in my previous post). The 110 Prims Junk entrance  looks unobtrusive from the surface–no more than a sunken pathway to an abandoned platform.

Just wait until you tumble into the entrance, falling underwater into what appears to be a submerged laboratory. The ethereal light filtering through the water and the glowing canisters set up inside the dark, caged-off rooms feel chilling, creepy, and fantastic.

Many sims may be built for shopping, but they’re worth exploring for their visual interest and beauty. One perfect example is 6pi. After seeing Krissy Muggleston feature this sim on her blog, I had to go exploring!

One third of the sim is dedicated to the luscious nature of Alirium Gardens. The trees and plants are affordable and sweet, and the creator, Alir Flow, has set up many poses in translucent blue boxes around the picturesque landscape to take advantage of the the most photogenic moments.

I’m a bit too in love with this amazing lavender Bael skin from The Plastik. I can’t take it off! The intense, fantastical features on a dusky purple skin give my normally pale visage something extra. The only gripe I have with them are the eyebrows which are not as realistic as the rest of the body deserves. The Bael Elven skins come in a wide variety of colored tones. Each makeup option of this skin line comes with matching elf ears and eyes. Break out of the norm. This is what dressing up in Second Life is all about!

I decided to stick with the dark-with-blue-undertones theme for the leggings and fluffy shrug, both by the fabulous COCO. You can grab the leggings for free on the store wall if you’re a group member. My favorite Maitreya hair and heels (note the tinted feet. I give myself credit for matching this unique tone!) round out the outfit, and this awesome tank from Emery is one of my new favorite shirts! You can grab the Glow Studio crow ring at the Designers United II event going on now in the Cupcake sim.

As soon as I buy something new in world, I feel an overwhelming compulsion to put it on right away and totally redo my outfit for that one piece. The problem comes when I have heaps of newness on the same day! How do I fit it all together? Thankfully today’s purchases and freebies didn’t overwhelm my attachment points or layers, so here we go:

Atomic gave their group a skin gift in two makeups and freckle options. I went with the more dramatic plum lips. Kiss my gloss, baby! Manna, the maker of some of my favorite primtastic belts, has recently created this lovely necklace with flower and leaf detail, glowing clear crystal beads, and a central charm containing suspended cherries.  Grasp’s deep green down jacket fits the female figure perfectly (it’s a bit too short on the males) and keeps me snuggly warm in the falling temperatures.

I couldn’t resist playing up the purple theme with some classic Armidi Gisaci slacks. And even though my RL skin looks sickly next to gold, my SL wardrobe is filling up with gold accents and clothing pieces. This top is an old cheapie from Garbage and I tinted the Atomic facial piercings to match. For some reason (lack of imagination, perhaps) I chose black accessories. The Gritty Kitty hair/hat combo won won me (and my chilly body) over easily. I had to make a warmth sacrifice with the heels, however. Who can overlook the hotness of the best feet in SL by Maitreya? I’m trying to wear them all the time to justify the blodsucking price. It’s almost working…

You’ve probably seen the Wanda dress: poofed, pale, and perfectly free from the store Crazy. Despite my usual aversion to large prim skirts (and floppy butt bows), I was drawn to this by the calming mix of wheat and pink coloring and the delicate lacing along the spine.

The most stereotypically feminine color in my mind is pale pink. The ever-gorgeous flats from Shiny Things and heavily blushed temples of the lovely LeLutka group gift skin practically strangle me with femininity. Primmy skirt be damned–I feel pretty!

I hate the word cleavage. My sister and I used to call our décolletage “Cleaveland, Ohio” in order to be a bit more discreet while still alerting the other to the protrusion of va-va-voom from her dress or top.

This look did not start out as focusing on the breasts, but after forgetting to put on my tank top underneath, it seemed that no matter what angle I chose, I was declaring my allegiance to the great city of Cleaveland.

Blondie and Dagwood

What had the largest impact on women’s liberation? According to one Vatican newspaper writer: the clothes washing machine. Watch this Whirlpool® commerical from the 50s to see just how liberated we’ve become! The poor ladies can’t appreciate voting, but they certainly love clean laundry at the turn of a dial.

Today’s blog is written in tribute to the pea-brained (male) advertising execs at Whirpool®, all men and women who fought for the rights of  females, and—just for giggles—Blondie and Dagwood.

So where in SL can you become a liberated female from a bygone era? Artilleri, of course—the first store I fell in love with in SL. Antonia Marat’s newest capris and halter tops make me want to run out and grab the nearest detergent and pour it all over my sexually repressed pixel body. … Or I could just call them fabulous—you get the picture. Don’t neglect artilleri’s chunky jewlery. It’s color-change and just the right size for a statement.

Speaking of statements, this new hair from Clawtooth by Clawtooth does all my yelling for me. If I believed in a god, this hair would be tickling its transcendent double chin. Talk about a ‘do! Bubbles knows how to bring us ladies closer to heaven.

Heaven, according to Whirlpool®, was a woman’s freedom to do the family’s chores. I spent my afternoon getting in touch with my feminine side at BLONDE, doing a bit of laundry, grabbing a snack, and washing the dishes. This is what I call liberating! Don’t miss this adorable Spring Cleaning outfit (it’s a cheapie!) at the store. It includes the apron, gloves, and a feather duster. Perfect for the modern woman who doesn’t need a man–only a few appliances that vibrate.

I lurve me some plaid–especially when it’s done in two colors. It stays simple, flexible, and not pigeonholed like Nirvana-inspired grunge or Grandpa’s old trousers. These shorts by Riddle are, quite simply, the shit. I know other shorts like this are out there on the grid, and I’m tempted to snatch those up too. I so wish I could pull these off in real life! How did I go without these for so many months?

jojoruno Runo is an artist and creator of provocative clothing, furnishings, and installations. I’ve blogged RunoRuno before, and will continue to do so, because this one truly deserves it. How can you turn down unbelievably affordable clothing that’s expertly sculpted and comes with more options than you can handle? This tank top is one of three versions–all for just $50L. She should be charging more, and you should be buying more.

Exile’s new hair (to be found on their equally new sim, Covet) is funky as always, full of volume and sass. The current group gift for women (yes, there is one for men, too!) is this absolutely rawkin’ tri-color ‘do. Pick it up at the store’s entrance by wearing the group tag! I only wish there was a color pack with other tri mixes just like this one. It’s right up my alley.
