Love Uncovers, Sunshine Reveals

“Perhaps it will seem to you that the sunshine is brighter and that everything has a new charm. At least, I believe this is always the result of a deep love, and it is a beautiful thing. And I believe people who think love prevents one from thinking clearly are wrong; for then one thinks very clearly and is more active than before. And love is something eternal–the aspect may change, but not the essence. There is the same difference in a person before and after he is in love as there is in an unlighted lamp and one that is burning. The lamp was there and it was a good lamp, but now it is shedding light too, and that is its real function. And love makes one calmer about many things, and in that way, one is more fit for one’s work.”

– Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890)

Enjoying the Pale

18 Apr

I’ve been purposefully buying a lot of white, pearl, gray, beige, and other pale tones in the past months. There’s a side of me that gravitates towards saturated colors and darker, more mysterious palettes, but I just as eagerly reach for the innocence and femininity of a light, desaturated look.

I think this personal trend plays into my adoration of antique & retro kitsch. One of my favorite small jewelry shops is Yummy by Polyester Partridge. This sweet necklace could be a meaningful collection of baubles from your grandmother, or a recent etsy.com purchase. It’s one of my very favorite recent purchases, and there’s more where it came from; so go check it out on Tableau.

Enjoying the Pale

Speaking of favorite things, this sweet skirt by Nylon Outfitters and the short tweed jacket by AOHARU beg for futher outfit wrangling. I want more tweed in my real life! The top was a group gift from Pig, and I want more colors! I love how Pig tops are shaded to accentuate the tiny-titted ladies. Show it off, chicas.

1980something

7 Apr

I am so amped about this outfit! It’s like, totally tubular! I was refusing to buy this AOHARU top on principal (the principal that all girls who tied their button downs were bimbettes and we should hit them with our ‘sneaks). But then I saw it in this boss plaid and ate my words!

1980something

Of course to be a little bit 80s, you need a lot of hair! This super-simple style from Nylon Outfitters made my day! You don’t need 45 sculpts to look like a commercial for Aquanet. And for feckssake, it’s called Janet.

Daylight

24 Feb

I’m addicted to brilliant, sunny rooms. I find that a pale canvas bests sets off even the most subtle colors and textures. In real life, I work in the lower level of our building (aka “the Dungeon”). With no windows or natural light around me all day, I take what cheerful bits of daylight I can—even in SL. Ah, the magic of Windlight.
